Study programme objectives
» | Educating of engineers capable for designing, operative work and mining production management. Mining engineers acquire knowledge of all the relevant mining processes, from exploration, production, and ore processing to final market products, including the environmental preservation technology. Production and engineering activities involve computer planning and designing of mines and facilities for preparation of mineral raw materials, drilling, blasting, transportation of materials, selection and maintenance of mining mechanisation, also including designing and constructing underground facilities, mine ventilations and drainage. |
» | Development of creative capabilities and approaches in analysing and resolving professional problems regarding global significance of mining resources in the ever-changing world; |
» | Gaining of capabilities necessary for independent and team work and decision-making; |
» | Providing a fundamental knowledge necessary for following the lessons at higher study levels (master and doctoral studies); |
» | Creating the habits for permanent education, intellectual and professional improvement; |
» | Self-confidence and acting with high professional and ethical standards. |
Future approach
Professional status
» | Understand and implement the principles of mathematics, engineering, and other sciences in practice for the needs of resolving engineering problems; |
» | Design mines and production systems, suggest improvements, install systems of processes which can satisfy the desired standards and needs within a framework of real limitations; |
» | Work effectively and efficiently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and communicate with the experts of different profiles; |
» | Identify, analyse, formulate, and resolve basic engineering problems in mining; |
» | Use proper techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for mining practice in order to be locally and globally competitive; |
» | Know, and respect, professional, ethical, social, and ecological responsibilities; |
» | Ability to engage themselves in the process of lifelong learning and to improve themselves professionally in certain area of specialisation. |
