Study program:
Minerology and Crystallography (VIII semester -MsC) Petrology and Geochemistry (VIII semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Genetic Mineralogy |
Instructors:
Prof. Suzana Erić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: None |
Course Objectives: The objective of the course is to get students acquainted and to master the principles of genetic mineralogy in interpreting the origin of the minerals in nature |
Learning Outcomes: By mastering the course material, the student is able to solve complex problems related to the genesis of minerals in the Earth’s crust |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction to genetic mineralogy. Growth of crystals and crystalline aggregates from liquid and gaseous phases. Genetic significance of isomorphism. Genetic significance of polymorphism and polytypism. Thermodynamic calculations. The basics of phase equilibrium. Solubility of minerals. Processes of genesis in natural conditions. Genetic significance of typomorphic and typo-crystallochemical properties of minerals. Liquid and liquid gaseous inclusions in minerals. Genetic significance of isotopes. Interphase distribution of elements. Basic principles of ontogeny of minerals. Kinetics and dynamics of metasomatic processes. Practical teaching Exercises take place according to lecture units. |
