Course Objectives: The student acquires knowledge about the fundamental principles of climate change in Earth’s history; the different climatic conditions and their changes in time, as well as the reasons that lead to these changes. |
Learning Outcomes: The student acquires knowledge about the basics of paleoclimatology, models of paleoclimatological reconstructions, as well as the causes of climate change over time. |
Content:
Theory teaching Principles of paleoclimatology. Causes of climate change. Milanković. Biological impacts on climate. Astronomical impacts on climate. Paleoclimatology - time dimension. Basic climate models. Water and atmosphere circulation. Quaternary paleoclimate; reconstruction and climate model in the last 20,000 years. Ice Age. Paleoclimate of Cretaceous (consequences of astronomical impact on climate). Reconstruction and climate model 100 million years ago. Paleozoic and early-earth climatic conditions (reconstruction and model). Precambrian climate; reconstruction and model. Practical teaching Students based on instructive examples modeling the paleoclimatological models of specific sites from the geological past. |
