Course Objectives:
The goal of this course is that a student acquires necessary knowledge of sellected group of macrofossils.
To acquire theoretical and analytical knowledge of new methods in determination of macrofossils, for the purpose of interpretation of biostratigraphical, palaeoecological and palaeogeographical conclusions. |
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, student is able to identify and describe different taxa of a particular group, as well as to draw conclusions on biostratigraphy. |
Content:
Theory teaching
Research of macrofossils of Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, Neogene and Quaternary sediments of Serbia and neighboring countries. Significant macrofossils for Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, Neogene and Quaternary sediments of Serbia.
A review of the morphology of their skeletons, evolutionary sequences and biostratigraphically significant species. Palaeoecological relations of significant communities in fossil ecosystems. The degree of research of individual groups of macrofossils. Practical teaching
Cabinet work on a concrete fossil collection. |

Conduct of the Course:
Practical work on a concrete fossil collection. Study of appropriate literature. Independent conclusion on the stratigraphic and palaeoecological properties of the studied group. |
