Course Objectives: Introduction to the basic physical-mechanical properties of soil. Use of soil parameters in numerous geotechnical analyses of soil-structure interaction. |

Content:
Theory teaching 1. Soil models; 2. Elastic models; 3. Elasto-plastic models; 4. Plastic models; 5. Experimental determination of model parameters; 6. Selection of soil parameters - model calibration; 7. Concept of critical soil state; 8. Basic theories of critical state; 9. Soil behaviour before failure; 10. Basic concept of plasticity theory; 11. Finite element analysis - consolidation, shear strength, permeability; 12. Special conditions of investigations; Practical teaching Demonstrative and individual laboratory exercises as well as audio-visual presentations. They include ten tasks which follow lecture material and three independent laboratory exercises. |
