Course Objectives: Getting to know physico-geographical circumstances during geological history of the Earth, the cause of their formation and consequences they left behind. |
Learning Outcomes: Understanding the palaeogeographical development of our planet from the so-called "cosmic phase" to the modern period and possibility of prediction of further development of these processes. |
Content:
Theory teaching Development of palaeogeography. Elements of the area (land, sea, transitional areas). The importance of tectonic movements in palaeogeography. Formation of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and their evolution through the geological history of the Earth. Palaeoclimatology and evolution of the climate through geological history. Occurrences and causes of Ice age in the geological past of the Earth. Different types of palaeogeographic maps. Practical teaching Video projections of scientific series of significant from the point of view of palaeogeography. Demonstration of atlas of palaeogeographic maps. Basic principles of Palaeogeography mapping. Creation of independent work, where the palaeogeographic characteristics of a particular area are elaborated in detail during a certain period. |
