Name of subject: Mechanochemical Activation
Instructors:
Prof. Milena Kostović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 10
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
Training students for independent scientific research in the field of mechanochemical activation, introducing with the machines and devices used in the mechanochemical activation process, especially special mills and theirs constructions, as well as introducing with new characteristics of mineral and secondary raw materials which treated in the process of mechanochemical activation and possibilities for theirs application in different industries.
Learning Outcomes:
Getting qualified knowledge in the field of mechanochemical activation.
Content:

Theory teaching
General basis and properties of solid particles. Ideal and real crystals. Defects of crystal lattice. Deformation of the crystal. The basic principles of the comminution and selected examples and reviews of efficiency systems for comminution. The present situation and development of principles and devices for comminution. Theoretical consideration of mechanochemical activation and models. Selected methods for the analysis of raw materials and determination of energy consumption in griding. Mechanical activation in the high - energy mills. Convert and transfer of energy during grinding. The role of additives for grinding on the environment through mechanical activation of minerals. Mechanical activation of minerals and middlings which are obtained in the process. Mechanical activation in the mining and chemical industries. Mechanochemical technology in engineering.

Practical teaching
The appropriate scientific and experimental work in the field of mechanochemical activation of mineral or secondary raw materials that are the subject of the student investigation within the PhD dissertations.
