Course Objectives: Introduction to the basics of underground mine dewatering proces and protection of underground workings from underground and surface waters. Getting acquainted with systems, equipment and drainage facilities. |
Learning Outcomes: Ability to understand the way and location of the groundwater phenomenon. Knowing the different methods of an underground mine dewatering according to diferent technology of underground deposit exploitation. Knowledge of dewatering equipment for underground mines. Familiarization with the safety-economic aspects of underground mine dewatering. Ability to develop underground mine dewatering projects. |
Content:
Theory teaching The importance and goal of mine dewatering. Properties of water and rocks. Forms of occurrence of water in the rocks. Physical and chemical properties of groundwater. Examples of water penetration into the mine workings and roadways. Methods for determining the inflow of water into the mines. Forecast of water inflow in mines. Prevention of surface and groundwater penetration in underground mines. Effective dewatering factors. Dewatering in the different phases of underground mine development. Organization of dewatering. Pump chambers. Underground mine dewatering plants. General division and purpose of pumps. Basic characteristics and pump parameters. Dewatering pipelines. Automatic control of dewatering pumps. Practical teaching Development of a dewatering project on the example of an underground mine. |
