Prerequisites: Completed course of Transport in mining and Surface mining technology. |
Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to teach the students about all transport types for raw materials on open pits mines. |
Learning Outcomes:
Successful completion of the course should enable the students to understood and implement methods and procedures for the selection and dimensioning of the transport system for open pit mines. |
Content:
Theory teaching
In theory classes, students will learn about:
General characteristics, and types of transportation systems in Surface mining,
Belt conveyor systems:
- general about belt conveyors in surface mining ,
- conveyors application conditions,
- classification and types of belt conveyors,
- conveyor constructor parts,
- conveyors design and calculations,
- conveyor automatization and operation control.
Truck shovel system:
- general about excavator/truck system,
- types of trucks and their technical and exploitation characteristics.
- roads on open pit mines,
- excavator/truck system design,
- excavator/truck system optimization,
- management of truck transport system on open pit mines.
Hydraulic transport systems:
- general about hydraulic transport systems
- conditions for application of hydraulic transport systems
- characteristics of pulp.
- pumps and other parts of hydraulic transport systems,
- hydraulic transport system calculation
- management of hydraulic transport systems. Practical teaching
Students solve problems related to Surface Mining Transportation Systems in form of individual mining project. |
