Course Objectives: Getting to know palaeontological evidences for evolution, i.e. evolution of individual groups of plants and animals. |
Learning Outcomes: Students will know how the evolution of individual groups of animals and plants took place. |
Content:
Theory teaching The relationship between paleontology and the theory of evolution. Extinction. Fossils as evidences of the theory of evolution. Phylogenetic trees and cladistics. "Transitional fossils". The origin of life. The development of multicellular organisms and the Cambrian explosion. Origin of chordates and vertebrates. Conquering the land. Origin of mammals and birds. Evolution of man. |
