Name of subject: Geodiversity |
Instructors:
Prof. Meri Ganić |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 3 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Introduction to abiotic diversity of the Earth, depending on geological factors, the inteaction of bio and geo-diversity and the aspect of its preservation. |
Learning Outcomes: Understanding the importance of recognition, extraction, preservation and maintenance of the inorganic and organic part of nature as a whole. The possibility of utilization of resources and geodiversity protection mode. |
Content:
Theory teaching The definition of geodiversity; Diversity of the planet Earth; Biodiversity and geological diversity, and biotic and abiotic diversity; Geological factors affecting the diversity of geological and historical development of the Earth, endogenous and exogenous processes that influenced the geological diversity; Interaction between geological diversity and biodiversity and the impact of these products; The values of geological diversity: essential and existing cultural value, aesthetic, economic, functional, and educational and research; Geochronological units as the elemenst of geodiversity; Tectonic structures as the elements of geodiversity; Exogenous processes as geodiversity elements; Rocks, minerals and fossils as an element of geodiversity; Vulnerability of geological diversity: the exploitation of mineral resources, restoration of mines and quarries; Urbanization, protection from coastal erosion, forest protection and afforestation, agriculture, recreation and tourism, climate change and sea level change, fires and military activities; Conservation of geodiversity; Protected areas in Serbia and legislation; The study and protection of geological diversity in Europe and in the region. Practical teaching Practice accompanies lectures and carried out in the form of tasks that allow the student to self-employed (seminars) to complete the planned program. In particular, attention is given to practical or field work, where the student trains independent work. |
