Instructors:
Prof. Katarina Bradić Milinović |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 10 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Objective of the course: Introduction to the different geological processes that led to the creation of the Earth's crust in the area of western Serbia from Precambrian and Paleozoic to Mesozoic. Study the chronological sequence of rock making the Earth's crust (study of composition, geography and time). Paleofaunistic and Paleofloristic studies (genetic types of Palaeozoic and Mesozoic formations in the Western Serbia. Apllication of stratigraphic methods in the study of the mentioned formations. Importance of stratigraphic data in other fields of geology. |
Learning Outcomes: Outcome of the course: Competence and mastered knowledge enables independent fieldwork, as well as application to other disciplines of geology. |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction to important monographic work and other literature data on stratigraphy of Eastern Serbia. Application of appropriate methods in research of Palaeozoic formations. Structural characteristics, mineral and petrographic and facial composition of metamorphic complexes of the terrain of Western Serbia. Methods for determining the age of metamorphic formations. Genetic types of Mesozoic deposits (shallow, reef, deep-water and magmatic) and a selection of appropriate methods for the reconstruction of paleoenvieroments and the age of Mesozoic formations. Methods for determining the age of carbonate and non-carbonate formations. Paleozoic and Mesozoic formations and their mineragenic significance. |
