Course Objectives: This class will cover the methods of investigations of the selected fossil groups. |
Learning Outcomes: Ability to analyze, identify and describe different taxa of the selected group, to establish stratigraphical divisions and correlations. |
Content:
Theory teaching The principles of modern taxonomy of macro and microfossils that are important in biostratigraphical interpretation. Biostatistics methods: Diversity index, clusters and principles of functional morphology. The procedure of establishing biostratigraphic units. Biostratigraphic correlation. Practical teaching A laboratory exercise with a focus on biostratigraphy analysis. |
