Course Objectives: The goal of this course is to acquire knowledge about fossil recordings, as well as conditions of environment and lifestyle of organisms during Neogene in Serbia; the conditions of their life and the paleoecological characteristics of the environment in which they lived. |
Learning Outcomes: The student acquires knowledge about fossil organisms in Neogene, their way of life, development, as well as the characteristics of the environment they inhabited. |
Content:
Theory teaching Paleoecological and tafonomic characteristics of the selected group of organisms. Morphofunctional analysis; Methods of analyzing paleoenvironments and their reconstruction - data collection and processing; Interpretation of data (creation of paleoenvironmental model). Practical teaching Practical lessons are followed by lectures and are conceived as independent work by students on concrete fossil material. |

Conduct of the Course: Practical work on concrete fossil collection and instructive examples. Study of appropriate literature. Independent conclusion on stratigraphic affiliation and paleoecological properties of studied fossil material. |
