Study program:
Geology (I semester -PhD) |
Name of subject: Geochemistry of Igneous and Metamorphic Rocks |
Instructors:
Prof. Dejan Prelević |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 10 |
Prerequisites: Introduction to Geochemistry, Petrology of magmatic and metamorphic rocks |
Course Objectives: Acquiring of new knowledge about geochemical processes, causes and consequences of primary and secondary geochemical differentiation , as well as about the distribution of chemical elements in different rocks of the lithosphere. geochemical evolution of the Earth’s mantle and continental and oceanic crust. |
Learning Outcomes: Getting necessary skills for scientific and practical solving of various geochemical problems that may occur in different parts of the lithosphere. Increasing the capability of recognizing different geochemical reservoirs within the lithosphere, as well as the potential of interpreting geochemical processes in the geological past and anticipating further geochemical evolution of the lithosphere. |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction to geochemical processes and differentiation of chemical elements during the Earth’s formation as well as during the magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary cycles of rocks’ formation and formation of ore deposits. Providing information about the contents and mode of occurrence of major elements and trace elements in rocks and minerals. Geochemistry of magmatic rocks and magmatic processes. Geochemistry of sedimentary rocks and sedimentary processesG. Geochemistry of metamorphic rocks and metamorphic processes. Geochemical models and solving problems in the genesis of ore deposits. Practical teaching Using modern literature in which problems related to geochemical evolution of the lithosphere are presented. Geochemical calculations and modelling of simple geochemical processes. |
