Study program:
Geology (III semester -PhD) |
Name of subject: Special Chapters in Genetic Mineralogy |
Instructors:
Prof. Maja Roksić |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 10 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge about physicochemical conditions of the formation of minerals through the methods of thermodynamic calculation. |
Learning Outcomes: Students were trained to solve complex problems in the field of genetic mineralogy as the basis for the further scientific research work. |
Content:
Theory teaching Thermodynamic basics of mineral systems. Gibbs free energy and equilibrium. Dynamic and kinetic analysis of different mineral parageneses. Distribution of elements in different mineral phases. Methods of geothermobarometry. Phase equilibrium of sulfate, sulfide and other mineral’s systems. Fluid inclusions in minerals and their significance. Practical teaching Exercises follow the method units of lectures. |
Suggested Reading List:
- Kinetics and equilibrium in mineral reakcions, editet by S.K.Saxena, Springer-Verlag, 1987.
- R.M. Garels,1967: Mineral equilibria, Harper publishers, New York
- Studentima se daju i radovi iz pojedinih oblasti koji su publikovani kod nas i u inostranstvu
