Study program:
Geology (II semester -PhD) |
Name of subject: Basin Modeling in Petroleum Exploration |
Instructors:
Prof. Aleksandar Kostić |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 10 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Analysis of burial and thermal history of a sedimentary basin and gaining skills for modeling of petroleum generation, migration and accumulation with use of relevant software. |
Learning Outcomes: Mastering in interpretation of data related to evolution of geothermal, petrophysical and maturation changes of sediments and to structural style of a basin. Mastering in synthesis and interpretation of relevant data and independent modeling of specific regions. |
Content:
Theory teaching Modeling of geological, geothermal and geochemical processes during sedimentary basin evolution. Integrative basin analysis, numerical simulations, model optimization and calibration. Burial history reconstruction, decompaction, incorporation of analytical laboratory data. Time-temperature and kinetic models of petroleum generation. Modeling of migration and accumulation of oil and gas. Practical teaching Manual graphic and software preparation of burial and geothermal history models. Construction of maturation models. Numerical and computer simulations on specific examples. |
