Theory teaching
Reduction of settlement due to consolidation: vertical sand drains, preloading. Drainage: principles of drainage, methods of drainage; drainage for different constructions: shallow foundation, roads and, railways, rataining walls, drainage of slopes and landslides. Effect of drainage. Anchors: Classification of anchors, mechanical anchors, grouted anchors, prestressed anchors. Using anchors: in slope stability, for retaining walls, for sheet pile walls, for underground constructions. Effects of anchoring. Technology of anchoring. Trial and control testing of anchoring. Shotcrete: basic characteristic, technology, using. Geosynthetics. types and characteristics. Application of geosynhetic for: reinforcement, filtration, separation and erosion protection. External and internal stability of retaining wall reinforced using geosynthetics. Stability of embankment’s slope with geosynthetics. Bearing capacity of embankment with geosynthetic in the base. Electroosmotic drainage: principles and conditions of applying, basic parameters. Basic characteristics and technology of man-made freezing of soil. Thermal treatment of soil: principles, effects, technology.
