Course Objectives:
Obtaining basic knowledge on the application of hydrogeological research in solving practical problems related to groundwater as a resource or limiting factor in the use of space in many areas of human activity. Introducing multidisciplinary aspects of exploration, protection and use of groundwater as an integral part of the geological and environmental environment |
Learning Outcomes:
Mastering basic knowledge related to the practical importance of groundwater and the application of hydrogeological research and engineering in various variants of the use of space. Understanding multidisciplinary aspects of applied hydrogeology and its connection with related disciplines. |
Content:
Theory teaching
Characteristics of Hydrogeology as a specific natural-engineering science. Specificities of groundwater as a natural resource or limiting factor for realization of various human activities. Basic principles and methods of hydrogeological research. Application of hydrogeological research in solving problems from various fields of human activity: interventions and regulation of groundwater reserves as a resource, construction of hydrotechnical and other facilities, specificity of geoengineering in karst, mine drainage, land melioration. Essential concepts from the domain of hydrogeological maps, hydrodynamic modeling, protection of groundwater and spatial planning. Practical teaching
Exercises follow lectures. Exercises consist of questions and problems that should be answered/solved by students, and are designed to enable effective overcoming of teaching materials. |
