Course Objectives:
Professional practice is unavoidable and very significant part of Economic Geology department’s curriculum. Nearby one-day field trips are favoured, but with multiple learning aspects. Particular importance has end of the year professional practice conducted in mines and mineral deposits. The aim is providing practical basis for field work, as well as expanding theoretical knowledge obtained from lectures.
Learning Outcomes:
The expected outcomes are the training of students for independent fieldwork, as well as the complex realisation of professional problems (theoretical basis, cabinet and field work).

Theory teaching

Practical teaching
Field teaching practice comprises from theoretical introduction. Because field teaching practice includes multiple study subjects, first part will apply to Metallic mineral deposits, second part to Non-metallic mineral deposits and third part to Coal deposits. It starts with informing students with specific mineral deposit and general geological and metallogenic characteristics of surrounding area. Practical teaching comprises from guided autonomous field work. Practicing methods will be geological mapping and documenting ore outcrops, taking samples and their preliminary processing, fieldwork research report writing. Optionally laboratory work will be realized. At the end of field work students are required to verify their field notebook and fieldwork research report.
