Course Objectives:
Acquiring basic knowledge about the principles, methods and technologies of rock excavation: for the construction of underground or foundation structures, for deep pitches and high slopes on roads and quarries. |
Learning Outcomes:
Training to apply acquired knowledge in geotechnical research for the needs of design and construction of engineering underground and on-ground facilities. |
Content:
Theory teaching
1. Introduction to the subject. 2. Mechanism of destruction of rocks by explosives, classifications and mining methods. 3. Methods for producing mine boreholes and influencing factors on drilling speed. 4. Blasting scheme, selection of types of breaking mines and determination of optimal type and quantity of explosives. 5. Mistakes during blasting and negative blasting effects. 6. Methods and organization of the production of premises underground (mining methods) and the production of premises from the surface. 7. Selection of machines for underground construction. 8. Loading and disposing of excavated material. 9. Materials for underground support systems. Practical teaching
Introduction and practical work with equipment for production of
boreholes and blasting. Calculation task related to underground technology. Field exercises, a visit to a mine or a visit to an underground facility under construction. |
