Geotechnical Remedial Works

Study program:
Geotechnics (VI semester -BsC)
Name of subject: Geotechnical Remedial Works
Instructors:
Prof. Miloš Marjanović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 5
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
Acquiring the basic knowledge on monitoring methodology and variability of observed engineering-geological, hydrogeological and seismic conditions, as well as on development of contemporary processes and phenomena within the influence zone of the engineering objects or wider spatial units.
Learning Outcomes:
Familiarizing with the importance of observing and monitoring of the changes of engineering-geological, hydrogeological and seismic conditions within the zone of the engineering objects, as well as enabling the students to apply acquired knowledge practically in geotechnical investigations.
Content:

Theory teaching
1. Monitoring the dynamics of spatial and temporal development of a landsliding process, and effectiveness of installed remediation measures. Concept and methodology of investigation. 2. Monitoring the dynamics of spatial and temporal development of a rockfall and alike processes on high and steep slopes, and effects of applied remediation measures. 3. Monitoring of dams and associated objects, monitoring the changes in engineering-geological, hydrogeological, and seismic conditions and phenomena in the damming site zone, as well as in the entire accumulation complex. 4. Monitoring of underground objects, monitoring the changes of engineering-geological and hydrogeological conditions, and development of current processes and phenomena within the zone of the object. 5. Monitoring geotechnical objects and high-rise buildings, monitoring the changes of engineering-geological and hydrogeological conditions, and development of current processes and phenomena within the zone of the object. Methodology of monitoring, and types of investigations. 6. Producing inventories, databases and information systems on current processes and phenomena of instability for wider spatial units.

Practical teaching
Direct familiarizing with measuring equipment, instruments and measuring techniques. Producing monitoring reports for objects or wider spatial units.

Suggested Reading List:
