Prerequisites: Basics of seismology
Course Objectives:
The objective of the course is to acquire applicable knowledge about the nature of seismogenic activities, the ways of its monitoring, the types of databases used in seismology and the basis for determining the impact of seismic activity on construction objects.
Learning Outcomes:
Trough teaching it is achieved the basis for further improvement in the field of measuring geophysical methods in the field of seismology, mastering the acquisition technique in the domain of seismology, as well as the understanding of the nature and degree of risk arising as a result of the activities of seismic zones.
Content:

Theory teaching
Theoretical assumptions about the propagation of seismic and acoustic waves, elastic deformation and dynamic determination of the modulus of elasticity, the phenomenon of refraction, reflection, dispersion, the concept of magnitude and energy dissipation occurring in the hypocenter, geometric and analytical determination of the position of the hypocenter and epicenter, seismological monitoring, teleseismics, microtremors and directives of eurocode 8.

Practical teaching
Computational exercises in the domain of the theory of expansion of seismic and acoustic waves, elastic deformations, geometric parametrization of seismic zones, elements of the eurocode 8. Experimental exercises in the domain of data acquisition, geometric parametrization of seismic zones, seismic monitoring and acquisition of microtremor data. In the framework of the exercises, students are preparing for the seminar work.

Conduct of the Course:
Theoretical assumptions presented through multimedia presentations and corresponding calculations on the school board, with practical demonstrations of measurement at contemporary measurement systems.
