Course Objectives:
Introduction to the scientific method of thinking and basic characteristics of scientific research in general. Acquiring appropriate knowledge and competencies necessary for successful planning and carrying out scientific and professional research, as well as for quality presentation of the obtained results.
Learning Outcomes:
Students are expected to acquire theoretical knowledge on the application of the scientific method and the practical skills needed to carry out scientific research. Students will be trained for: a) developing scientific research projects within national and international programs, b) planning, coordinating and directly carrying out scientific research (independently and as a participant in the research team); and c) quality performance of different types of verbal and written communication in scientific research (writing scientific papers, preparing oral presentations and posters for scientific meetings, preparing for a competition and interviews, etc.). Through this course students are expected to develop a sense of need for continuous learning and career development throughout their lives.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introduction to the scientific way of thinking. Designing scientific research: defining problems, preparing resources, collecting existing information, formulating a working hypothesis, a test plan and selecting methods, obtaining data, analyzing and interpreting, concluding and presenting results. Introduction to the preparation of project proposals. Fundamentals of project management. The skill of writing scientific papers and the oral presentation of scientific results. The most important aspects of scientific advancement and continuous career development.

Practical teaching
Discussion of specific project proposals and reviews received (positive and negative). Self-designing a project proposal by a group of students, presentations and discussions. Discussion of selected scientific papers. Work on the preparation of oral presentations, performances and comments. Preparing for an interview.

Conduct of the Course:
Power Point presentations and lectures ex cathedra. Self-study, problem-setting and discussion of students. Internet usage, creation, presentation and discussion of seminar papers. Simulation of the interview (teacher-student and student-student).
