Course Objectives:
Definition of a geological map, its significance, history. Getting acquainted with the contents of the geological map, methodical procedures for mapping, the way of working and final version of the geological map and interpreters, the production of maps of small-scale, detailed and special geological maps.
Learning Outcomes:
Ability to interpret geological maps of different degrees of complexity and different scales, interpretation of geological profiles and making interpreters as textual-graphical explanations of geological maps, etc.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introduction: the geological map definition (GM). Geological mapping as a profession. Division GM. Basic geological map of the SFRY. Geological map of Serbia. The topographic basis of GM. GM content. Methodological basis of geological mapping. Geological mapping of sediments, Geological mapping of metamorphic rocks, Geological mapping of magmatic rocks, Geological mapping of quaternary deposits, Geological mapping of tectonic complex terrain. Documentation of GM. Laboratory work. Working and final GM. GM and software. Explanatory booklet. Small-scale GM. Detailed GM - geological plans. Special GM. GM of developing countries. Subsurface GM. Eco-geological map. Geological mapping in engineering practice.

Practical teaching
Geological compass, Gauss-Kriger coordinates. Construction of geological boundaries. Creating a legend, geological profile and block diagram. Construction of simple geological maps. Interpretation of a geological map and explanatory Booklets based on documentation.
