Water Treatment 2

Study program:
Mining Engineering (III semester -PhD)
Name of subject: Water Treatment 2
Instructors:
Status: Optional
ECTS: 10
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
The objective of the course is to acquaint students in addition to theoretical and practical knowledge of primary, secondary and tertiary treatment of water (standard and certain specific water treatment processes) in more detail with the lines for: processing of drinking water, industrial use, treatment of several industrial wastewater, as well as municipal wastewater and sludge.
Learning Outcomes:
Development and acquisition of new theoretical and practical knowledge to work in the field of water and environmental engineering (in the field of environmental protection, providing technological solutions for the processing of drinking water, industrial use and industrial wastewater treatment, designing lines for water treatment) as and specifically addressing the problem of water treatment related to the topic of the doctoral dissertation in the field of mining engineering.
Content:

Theory teaching
Physicochemical and microbiological parameters of the quality of natural and wastewater. Specific parameters for the quality of natural and wastewater. Selfpurification of water recipient. Calculation of the required degree of wastewater treatment. Primary, secondary and tertiary water treatment (standard and specific methods for processing drinking water, industrial use and wastewater treatment). Seminar I: A specific method of water treatment with examples of application. Lines for: 1) processing of drinking water; 2) water treatment for industrial use; 3) purification of wastewater from coal processing; 3) treatment of wastewatersfrom Pb-Zn ore processing; 4) acid mine waters; 5) treatment of wastewater of metallurgy; 6) treatment of certain industrial wastewater; 7) treatment of municipal wastewater. Sludge processingSeminar II: Design of lines for the treatment of certain industrial wastewater (or drinking water or water for industrial use).

Practical teaching
Laboratory work, the application of certain methods in water treatment will depend on the topic of doctoral dissertation and pollutants occurring in wastewater or in drinking water, or need to be removed from water for industrial use
