Course Objectives:
Getting acquainted with the theory and practice of basic methods in different areas of Probability and Statistics for the needs of future doctors of mining.
Learning Outcomes:
The enabling of students to use in engineering practice the methods of different areas of Probability and Statistics at the level of a doctor of sciences.
Content:

Theory teaching
Basic notions of Probability, the classical and Laplace definition of probability. Discrete and continuous random variables and basic distributions. Mathematical expectation, moments, variance and the coefficient of correlation. Discrete and continuous Markov chains. Fourier series and the Fourier transform. Characteristic functions and functions which generate moments. Basic statistical concepts and some distributions of Statistics. Confidence intervals, the testing of statistical hypotheses. Correlation and regression, Gauss' method of least squares. Spearman's test of rang correlation.

Practical teaching
The working out of problems or seminars which correspond to the material that is being taught in class.
