Prof. Tomislav Šubaranović
Status: Compulsory
ECTS: 5
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
Introducing students with technique and drainage technology to surface exploitation of mineral resource deposits as well as the drainage system for surface mines.
Learning Outcomes:
Mastering professional knowledge on technological procedures, technical solutions and dredging system for surface mines.
Content:

Theory teaching
1. Introductory part and introduction to general concepts of drainage on surface mines; 2. Baseline parameters for drainage requirements (Hydrological parameters / water balance, catchment area, Precipitation, Get out, hydrograms and the linkages of the outflow and precipitation / hydrogeological parameters / origin and types of groundwater, porosity of the wall, basic hydrogeological properties of the wall, types issued, reserves of groundwater, conditions of deposit laying, determining the inflow of groundwater into the surface of the earth’s surface and the chemicals of groundwater), / hydraulic parameters / basic physical properties of liquids, hydrostatic pressure / hydrodynamic parameters / Bernoulli equation, hydraulic resistance and calculation of fluid flow in pressure pipes / parameters of groundwater dynamics / Darsian law, basic equations of flow of groundwater, hydraulic theory of filtration and methods of solving the problem of flow of groundwater); 3. Analysis of conditions for drainage of surface mines (analysis of hydrological and hydrographical conditions, analysis of hydrogeological and hydrodynamic conditions, analysis from the aspect of applied mining technology and the determination of stability conditions); 4. Principles of drainage of surface dugouts (General division of methods and drainage systems, Drainage systems, The influence of the degree of research on the selection of the drainage system, Conditions for selecting the appropriate drainage system and the importance of the proper selection and dimensioning of drainage facilities); 5. General overview of the drainage facilities of surface mining and facilities in the regulation of river flows (Channels and water bottles - division, calculation and dimensioning, technology of production / Pump stations - pumping aggregates, suction and pressure pipelines, calculations and dimensioning / Drain drainage and underground drainage facilities / Wells - types of wells, water supply to the well, wells arrangement in drainage systems, wellbore technology, wells, wells, well water information systems / Horizontal wells and needle filters / Waterproof screens - screen types, screen surveys, screen design technology, basic calculations for screen design and testing of its efficiency / facilities for draining water - gravity pipelines, manholes / facilities for drainage of landfills; 6. Choosing an optimum drainage method; 7. Software packages in the field of drainage of surface dugouts; 8. Remote monitoring and management of drainage systems.
