Technogenic Raw Materials

Study program:
Environmental Engineering (IX semester -MsC)
Name of subject: Technogenic Raw Materials
Instructors:
Prof. Ivica Ristović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 6
Prerequisites: Students are obliged to attend lectures, actively participate in exercises. To solve independently house works, seminars.
Course Objectives:
One of the first goals is that the student be able to recognize basic types of waste - secondary si-rovins, mining mines (exploitation, processing, separation, concentration, use, etc.), to analyze reactions and processes that affect the sphere of life protection middle. The aim of the course is to develop the ability of students to look at the possibilities of using and complex valorization of waste material and give it a new value in order to mitigate the impacts of mining activities on the environment.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: recognize and describe all types of waste - mining waste; to know the physical, chemical, technological and mechanical characteristics of the waste material; to understand the basic principles, benefits and limitations in waste management practice. Being able, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, can look at the possibilities of using, complex valorization. Students develop the ability to predict the behavior of inadequately treated waste and environmental impacts.
Content:

Theory teaching
Through this course the student will acquire the following knowledge. Basic concepts and definitions (anthropogenic action of man, waste, secondary raw materials, technogenic mineral raw materials, technogenic deposits, old bulk materials, etc.). Characterization and categorization of waste. Classification of waste according to origin, type and physical-chemical and mechanical characteristics. Principles, apparatus and procedures for recycling of certain types of waste. Legislation related to waste management. General definitions and sampling principles. Waste Exploitation of Coal. Waste treatment methods - the possibility of processing and using components. Waste separation, concentration, processing of metallic mineral raw materials. Waste Exploitation of Non-Metallic Mineral Raw Materials, Exploitation of Building Stone. Possibility to use. Municipal waste. Industrial waste. Recycling and regeneration of waste. Solid waste engineering. Biological waste management. Disposal, storage, storage. Effects of inadequate waste management. Contemporary trends in waste management.

Practical teaching
Basic concepts and definitions (anthropogenic action of man, waste, secondary raw materials, technogenic mineral raw materials, technogenic deposits, old bulk massifs ...). Introduction. Classification of waste according to origin, type and physical-chemical and mechanical and characteristics. Principles, apparatus and procedures for recycling of certain types of waste. Procedures for the fractional allocation of useful waste components. Classification, sorting, concentration and consolidation. Using Separate Products. Reduction of waste in the processing of mineral resources. Prediction of composition and quantity. Minimizing and worthless technology. Neutralization of waste. Legislation related to waste management. Sample. General definitions from the theory of sampling. Principles of sampling. Primary sample and its processing. Methods of sampling of technogenic mineral raw materials. Waste Exploitation of Coal (Damage of Exploitation - Subways, Piles, Coarse Separation Loom, Coal Dust, Sludge, Ignition, Electricity Ash, Boiler Slag). Waste - tailings as a new technogenic mineral resource. Waste separation, concentration, processing of metallic mineral raw materials, (new technogenic mineral raw materials with examples of processing, complex valorization of mineral raw materials, concept of clean and worthless technologies, waste minimization programs. Waste mining of non-metallic mineral raw materials, exploitation of building stone - quarries. solid municipal waste, waste management, storage, sorting, composting, incineration, economic analysis of the recycling process. incineration of chemical, physical, thermal, biological treatment of waste Disposal of waste, landfilling, storage (abandoned surface mines, underground premises) Waste management in the field of environmental engineering Remediation of tailings.

Conduct of the Course:
Teaching takes place through the lectures of the ekskatedra, alongside the power point presentation, with suitable short films, a lot of photographs from the field (mining - exploitation of non-renewable mineral raw materials, landfill dumps, wastewater), which illustrate various examples of environmental threats. Course participants write seminar papers, make and exhibit posters, with the theme "mining waste", "technogenic mineral raw materials". Through public presentation and discussion, they acquire certain skills, critical attitude, which they involve in solving such problems.
