Course Objectives:
Introduction to the principles, possibilities and procedures for collecting, transporting and disposal industrial waste from mining and thermal power plants (tailing, ash and bottom ash, etc.)
Learning Outcomes:
Training for analyzing, designing and exploiting the system for collecting, transporting and disposal of industrial waste from mining and thermal power plants.
Content:

Theory teaching
Disposal site of waste materials. Purpose, tasks, statistical indicators, types. Basic characteristics of waste. Types of soil. Granulometric composition. Chemical and mineral composition. Density, bulk density and hydraulic compactness. Humidity, saturation. Porosity and porosity coefficient. Compaction and relative compaction. Deposition rate. Elements of internal resistance. Simplicity. Coefficient of filtration. Consistency. Basic elements of the waste disposal system. Transport. Size of the landfill. Solving natural watercourses. Disposal system. Evacuation of free water. Protection. Observation. Site selection. Technical-technological, urban, economic, ecological and sociological conditions. Methods of upgrading. Upstream, downstream and the central line methods. Specificity of ash and bottom ash disposal sites. Specificity of the tailing disposal site from mineral processing. Water in the landfill. Origin. Water inside the contours of the tailing. Sedimentary pond. Leaking water from the site. Filtration. Drainage. Collectors. Water balance. Oxidation. Designing of landfills. Legislation in the country and the world. Capacity. Calculations. Equipment. Maintenance. Disasters in exploitation and possible damage. Statistical overview. Showing some of the damage in the world and in our environment.

Practical teaching
Characteristics of waste. Determination of selected parameters. Designing a landfill of waste materials - solving a practical problem. Site selection. Determination of size. Upgrading dynamics. Defining the catchment area. Solving problems of acceptance, retention and evacuation of waters. Defining the size of the tailings pond. Defining the height relationship between the embankment crown and the deposit of the deposited material.
