Analysis of Environmental Pollutants

Study program:
Environmental Engineering (V semester -BsC)
Name of subject: Analysis of Environmental Pollutants
Instructors:
Prof. Aleksandar Mijatović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 5
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the basic pollutants of the working and the environment, as well as their quantitative determination by means of chemical and instrumental methods.
Learning Outcomes:
After the successful completion of the program envisaged in this course, the student will have sufficient knowledge from the analysis of the pollutant of the working and environment, which he needs to master the materials from the professional subjects on the modules envisaged by this study program
Content:

Theory teaching
The main pollutants of the working and the environment, - taking samples for analysis from the working and the environment, - chemical methods of analysis: volumetric and gravimetric - physical chemical methods of analysis (instrumental methods): chromatography (gas, adsorption, ionic, etc.), electroanalytic methods (conductometry, coulometry, potentiometry), emission spectral analysis (qualitative and quantitative), atomic-absorption spectral analysis.

Practical teaching
Methods of expressing the concentration of environmental and environmental pollutants, - volumetric methods of chemical analysis, calculation in volumetry, determination of the concentration of ionic metals by complexometric method, complexometric determination of total water hardness, - gravimetric methods, calculations in gravimetry, determination of Cl- ion concentration by argentometric method, some gases by gas chromatography, - determination of the concentration of Fe3+ ion by the method of visual colorimetry.
