Course Objectives:
Introduction to the basic concepts in hydrogeology: origin, forms, aquifer formations and types, movement and outflow of groundwater, their place in general water cycle on Earth and important aspects of their quality and regimes.
Learning Outcomes:
Mastering the basic principles of Hydrogeology as well as the basic knowledge about groundwater as an integral component of environment.
Content:

Theory teaching
Cycle and water balance on Earth and groundwater flows. Concept, origin and types of groundwater. Physical-mechanical and hydrogeological properties of the different rock types. Groundwater movement. Physical-chemical, radiological and microbiological composition of groundwater. Hydrogeological structures. Concept, Elements and Classification of aquifers. Concept and classification of springs. The relationship between groundwater and surface waters. Concept, basic elements and classification of groundwater regime. Concept and classification of mineral waters. Importance of groundwater resources.

Practical teaching
Exercises follow lectures. Exercises consist of questions and problems that should be answered/solved by students, and are designed to enable effective overcoming of teaching materials.
